Act III: Alternate Ending

(I will start where Nora tells Helmer to sit down to talk.)

Nora: Sit down Torvald, we have much to talk about. *Helmer sits down across from Nora*

Helmer: Nora? What is the meaning of this?

Nora: Have you realized that we have never really had a normal conversation? Let alone a serious one? We have been married 8 years and I feel as if you are but a stranger to me.

Helmer: *Wiggling his finger in front of her face* Oh my little scatterbrain, have you had too much to drink tonight?

Nora: *Rolling her eyes while keeping a neutral face* No, I am perfectly sober. Now Torvald 'dear' answer me.

Helmer: I have no idea what you are talking about. You are no stranger to me. You are Nora Helmer, my wife, and mother of my two beautiful children.

Nora: Two children?

Helmer: Yes that is what I said. *Helmer looks at her as if she has grown a second head*

Nora: *Shaking her head with a frown on her face*  Torvald we have 3 kids. Christ man! You are so obsessed with your rank and the way others look at you that you haven't been paying attention to what is going on in your own home. Ha! And you wanted me to stay away from the children? You couldn't even tell which ones yours even if I pointed it out.

Helmer: *Stands up rapidly throwing the chair behind him* Now you listen here young lady! You may be my wife but I will not stand for you to disrespect me in any way shape or form!

Nora: *Smirking* You don't have to stand there's at chair right behind you. *Motioning towards the chair*

Helmer: *Grabbing her face from across the table* You are a woman! A WOMAN! I would look bad if people knew I was told off but I woman. Now Nora, I could put all this behind us and forgive you if you just apologize and come to bed with me.

Nora: *Slapping his hand away* Don't touch me with your filthy perverted hands!

Helmer: Peverted?!!?

Nora: What kind of man think of his wife, one whom he has been with for 8 year, as a inexperience young virgin every time he takes her to bed? That's sickening to even think about. I can no longer be at your presence.

Helmer: No long-- Nora what are you saying?!!?

Nora: I'm saying that I'm leaving you. I'm taking the kids with me.*Gets up and starts walking to the door. Once there she calls for Helena* Helena please get the children and pack their things, we are leaving.

Helmer: *Grabs her arm* You have no right leave! You have a duty here as a wife and mother. You, my dear Nora, are my property. You are MINE!

Nora: *Snatches her arm away* I am my own person. I am no ones but myself. I have every right to do as I please and you cannot stop me. I don't need you pulling me down to hell with you.

Helmer: B-but Nora, I love you.

Nora: Oh Torvald, you don't love me. You don't love nobody. You're just thinking about how bad this would look on the paper. 'Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Woman leaves man putting shame to the Helmer family name!' I'm right aren't I? Oh yes, guess I wasn't that much of a scatterbrain huh?

Helmer: *Falling to his knees begging* Nora Please don't leave. I'll give you everything you want just please don't leave.

Nora: *Slowly walking away* You know, I would kind of hoping for a miracle to happen when you read that first letter.

Helmer: Miracle?

Nora: Yes, I hoped you would come to my rescue and blame this whole thing on yourself to save me. I was ready to give my life to you and you could care least if your image was at risk. Hell, if anything I thought you were going to kill me yourself. But it's okay because that's when I realized I don't need a man to be my knight in shining armor. I, a woman, can save my own life if the time ever came.

Helmer: *Whispers Nora's name* Nora.....

Nora: Goodbye Mr. Helmer. It was a pleaser meeting you. Now I must leave. *Nora walks out the door without looking back.*

Helmer: *Still whispering* No Nora..... P-please don't go. *Reaches out to where Nora was once standing* I-I'm sorry.

Act II: It's getting intense!!!!!

                                      Character Analysis Part 2

Act II was very interesting. We got a love confession from Dr. Rank, and a 'scary' threat from Krogstad. Let's start with Dr. Rank.

Dr. Rank is an old family friend, he has terminal tuberculosis and is dying. He came to tell Nora and Helmer the he is dying and will soon send them a letter with a cross signifying his death. But Nora had other plans for him. Before she was able to he confessed his love for her, unintentionally making things awkward between them and harder for Nora to ask for help. She, of course, rejected him. "Oh, how can I tell what I knew or didn't know? 1 really can't say-- how could you be so clumsy, Dr. Rank ? It was all so nice!" (Ibsen) I feel like deep down Nora truly loved Rank but chose to be with Helmer instead. What do you guys think?

Dr. Rank telling Nora he loves her

                                                                           Nora's reaction.

Krogstad is known as the 'criminal' because of a single mistake he did. To save his job and get back his name he is blackmailing Nora for owing him money and forging her fathers signature. He is determined to get what he wants. I honestly don't think he's a bad person, just desperate. A broken man falling into the wrong path. "l'll tell you. I want to regain my footing in the world. I want to rise; and your husband shall help me to do it. For the last eighteen months my record has been spotless; I've been in bitter need all time, but I was content to fight my way up, step by step. Now, I've been thrown down, and I won't be satisfied with merely being allowed to sneak back again. I want to rise, I tell you. I must get into the bank again, in a higher position than before. Your husband shall crate a place on purpose for me--" (Ibsen)

How Krogstad feels.

Act I: Dolls House

                                     Character Analysis

After reading Act I of Dolls House I was introduced to many new character. There's Nora, the main character of the play. She's a ravishing money spending wife, she tells little white lies that soon accumulate to one big gigantic lie. Something she thought was an innocent heroic act of love, was really an evil act of a criminal. She went to her husband, Helmer, to ask about the situation and he responded "Many a man can retrieve his character if he owns his crime and takes the punishment." (Ibsen) That was something she was not expecting, has she really become 'corrupted' as Helmer says? From there comes he husband Helmer.

Helmer treats Nora as if she were his daughter, or even as if she were a young woman married to a rich old man, so basically a sugar daddy. He calls her names and treats her as if she's not all there. "Is it my little squirrel bustling around?" (Ibsen) He calls her a squirrel of a skylark sometimes even a featherbrain. Nora just goes along with it.

The author of DollsHouse

English class is Oday👌🏽 I only wish it started alittle later. I'm not a fan of waking up at 7 something to go to school and learn how to properly use the word 'The'. ( T_T)\(^-^ )  Class has its funny moments which I enjoy, but enough about that, let's talk about the writer of our new 'amazing' book. Henrik Ibsen! Yay!  Hooray! *\(^o^)/*

                                                                       His childhood

Henrik Ibsen, born on March 20, 1828, in Skien, Norway. As a child, Ibsen show little to no sign of the theatrical genius he soon became. He grew up in a small Norwegain coastal town of Skien as the oldest of five. His father, Knud Ibsen, was a successful merchant and his mother, Marichen Ibsen, painted, played piano, and loved to go to the theater. At 15 Ibsen stopped going to school and started working. He worked as an apprentice in an apothecary in Grimstad. He worked for about six years. He used whatever free time he had to write poetry and paint.

                                                                        His later years

One of Ibsen's friend's, Ole Schulerud, paid for the publication of Ibsen's first play Catilina, which didn't get much attention. The next year, Ibsen met a violinist and theater manager named, Ole Bull. Bull liked Ibsen and offered him a Jonas a writer and manager for the Norwegain Theater in Bergen. That position provided an intense tutorial on all things theatrical and even included traveling abroad to learn more about his craft.

                                                                          Final years

In 1900, Ibsen had a series of strokes that left him unable to write. He somehow managed to live for several more years, but he was never fully there during most of this time. Ibsen died on May 23 1906.  His last words were "To the contrary!" Considered a literary Titan at the time of his death, he received a state funeral from the Norwegian government.
