Act III: Alternate Ending

                            (I will start where Nora tells Helmer to sit down to talk.)

Nora: Sit down Torvald, we have much to talk about. *Helmer sits down across from Nora*

Helmer: Nora? What is the meaning of this?

Nora: Have you realized that we have never really had a normal conversation? Let alone a serious one? We have been married 8 years and I feel as if you are but a stranger to me.

Helmer: *Wiggling his finger in front of her face* Oh my little scatterbrain, have you had too much to drink tonight?

Nora: *Rolling her eyes while keeping a neutral face* No, I am perfectly sober. Now Torvald 'dear' answer me.

Helmer: I have no idea what you are talking about. You are no stranger to me. You are Nora Helmer, my wife, and mother of my two beautiful children.

Nora: Two children?

Helmer: Yes that is what I said. *Helmer looks at her as if she has grown a second head*

Nora: *Shaking her head with a frown on her face*  Torvald we have 3 kids. Christ man! You are so obsessed with your rank and the way others look at you that you haven't been paying attention to what is going on in your own home. Ha! And you wanted me to stay away from the children? You couldn't even tell which ones yours even if I pointed it out.

Helmer: *Stands up rapidly throwing the chair behind him* Now you listen here young lady! You may be my wife but I will not stand for you to disrespect me in any way shape or form!

Nora: *Smirking* You don't have to stand there's at chair right behind you. *Motioning towards the chair*

Helmer: *Grabbing her face from across the table* You are a woman! A WOMAN! I would look bad if people knew I was told off but I woman. Now Nora, I could put all this behind us and forgive you if you just apologize and come to bed with me.

Nora: *Slapping his hand away* Don't touch me with your filthy perverted hands!

Helmer: Peverted?!!?

Nora: What kind of man think of his wife, one whom he has been with for 8 year, as a inexperience young virgin every time he takes her to bed? That's sickening to even think about. I can no longer be at your presence.

Helmer: No long-- Nora what are you saying?!!?

Nora: I'm saying that I'm leaving you. I'm taking the kids with me.*Gets up and starts walking to the door. Once there she calls for Helena* Helena please get the children and pack their things, we are leaving.

Helmer: *Grabs her arm* You have no right leave! You have a duty here as a wife and mother. You, my dear Nora, are my property. You are MINE!

Nora: *Snatches her arm away* I am my own person. I am no ones but myself. I have every right to do as I please and you cannot stop me. I don't need you pulling me down to hell with you.

Helmer: B-but Nora, I love you.

Nora: Oh Torvald, you don't love me. You don't love nobody. You're just thinking about how bad this would look on the paper. 'Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Woman leaves man putting shame to the Helmer family name!' I'm right aren't I? Oh yes, guess I wasn't that much of a scatterbrain huh?

Helmer: *Falling to his knees begging* Nora Please don't leave. I'll give you everything you want just please don't leave.

Nora: *Slowly walking away* You know, I would kind of hoping for a miracle to happen when you read that first letter.

Helmer: Miracle?

Nora: Yes, I hoped you would come to my rescue and blame this whole thing on yourself to save me. I was ready to give my life to you and you could care least if your image was at risk. Hell, if anything I thought you were going to kill me yourself. But it's okay because that's when I realized I don't need a man to be my knight in shining armor. I, a woman, can save my own life if the time ever came.

Helmer: *Whispers Nora's name* Nora.....

Nora: Goodbye Mr. Helmer. It was a pleaser meeting you. Now I must leave. *Nora walks out the door without looking back.*

Helmer: *Still whispering* No Nora..... P-please don't go. *Reaches out to where Nora was once standing* I-I'm sorry.
